As part of Our Community Theme, some of our children visited various places in the Hilton Community. They posted a letter at the Post Office, had a wonderful story told to them by the local librarian at the Library and enjoyed seeing Tasha’s fudge being made. Thanks to all those who supported our little adventure, the children just loved it!
Every year Hilltops celebrates our wonderful country, our little children sing the national anthem at the top of their voices, they enjoy traditional South African food and they learn that they are a part of something truly wonderful! Aah to appreciate the simple things hot days, braais and good friends!
Fun was had at a cosy brekkie for our special mums on Mother's Day at The Barn with an enriching and entertaining talk by Hilltops mom and Psychologist Carien Du Toit.
Mom's were spoilt with pamper hampers, flowers, coffee and muffins- and of course lot's of laughs, chats and good memories!
Hilltop's Preschool doing the laps!
From Tiny Tot's to big Grade R's, all had fun in the sun while exercising, with a half- way Jelly Tot stop and Splashes to end off for tired little legs.
Visiting the farm at Cedara (practically our neighbours). There was lots of walking and spotting "farm things", riding tractors and touching lambs.
We definitely have a few future farmers at our little school!
The children all took their shoes off at 10:00 (it IS winter in Hilton after all!) as well as bought bags of warm clothes, shoes and blankets to donate to Ndabezintle Creche in Sweetwaters. The amazing Nellie looks after approximately 30- 40 children on a daily basis and does this with the support of local churches and community groups. She provides them with a hot meal and lots of love. Hilltops is proud to support her fantastic project.
The SPCA Howick came to chat to the children to make them aware of what the organisation does as well as what it takes to look after animals as pets. This tied in nicely with our weekly theme (pets) and really brought the learning home for the little ones. Donations of food and blankets were proudly given by the children, and the SPCA team was hugely appreciative. Thanks all!
So many of our grandparents turned out to enjoy the day with us! They were treated to a stellar musical performance, a poetry recital and then a craft session with their precious grandchildren.
Everyone enjoyed tea and cake together and a tour around the school. Thanks to all our grandparents for coming along, see you next year!
What a special day, full of happy hearts and big smiles! All the children came dressed in their mixtures of pink, white and red to celebrate love and all the things they hold dear to their hearts.
The teachers got extra big hugs and even some gorgeous flowers! Aren't we so lucky!?
This week has been all about the family, and celebrating the similarities and differences of the families around us. The Grade R children made playdough models of their families, and all the children drew pictures of the special people in their lives.
It was very entertaining to hear about all the wonderful things that the mom's and dad's do for their children!
